ARTERING - the age-old method of trade has returned to Drogheda but this time it is in the form of web trading thanks to Trinity Gardens resident Maureen Peakin.

Maureen decided to set up her website, www.GoBarterIreland.IE in direct response to the economic situation Ireland is facing at the moment where people may not be able to afford a certain product but may have an item in their home that could be traded for the item that they want.

The website has been up and running for a short while now and already people are looking to trade goods such as cars, silverware, games and much more, and the best thing about the website that is free to use!

Maureen explained to the Drogheda Leader how the idea came about for her new website.

"The public may wonder how I came to create this innovative website. I created this website with the help of friends because I saw a need and a lack of funds for the things we want. Bartering is an ancient concept and I have created a wonderfull free website for the Irich public."

Not only can you trade goods, people can also trade their services between each other as Maureen explained further.

"You can trade a toy that is not used for a piece of clothing or school books that may be useful to another family for an unwanted lamp. Services can be traded as well. A carpenter may trade his knowledge and help to have his house painted by a painter. The list is endless. It puts people back to work", Maureen said
